Bear Blog Carnival: An album that got you through a hard time

Music, my saviour

It's my turn for hosting the Bear Blog Carnival! A Blog Carnival is "a form of independent, personally curated content aggregation, often hosted by different people in rotation, in which the host would write a post linking to any posts submitted on the chosen topic." You can find out more and look at previous Bear Blog Carnivals by clicking that link.

I'd like to invite anyone who reads this and wants to participate to tell us all about an album that got you through a hard time. While in my head I mean album to mean a work of music, please feel free to interpret "album" (and "hard time," for that matter) as loosely or as rigidly as you would like; I'll be particularly interested to hear from anyone for whom a photo album helped them through a difficult time!

Please don't feel the need to talk overmuch about the particular hard time you went through if you don't want to share with strangers on the Internet (I certainly won't be going into visceral detail with my own entry). Say as much as you are willing to, and no more. Mainly, I'd love to hear about specific tracks, lyrics, melodies, or anything else that particularly resonated with you at the time. And I'd be interested to hear if you can still listen to your chosen album now that time has (presumably) passed.

I strongly encourage everyone getting involved to share a link to buy the album on Bandcamp or Qobuz. If it's not in either place, then a link to a YouTube playlist for the album will also do. But let's prioritise paying musicians properly for their art if we can, yeah?

I'll update this post regularly throughout July as people submit their own links, so do check back from time to time!

If you have a submission you'd like to add to this list, send me an email by clicking this link.
